I recently ran across Tim Ferris’ article From Geek to Freak: How I Gained 34 lbs. of Muscle in 4 Weeks. 34 lbs in 4 weeks? It sounds almost impossible. Still, I’m interested. I’ve had some success with 30 day goals in the past. 30 days is long enough to give something new a real try, but not so long that I’d be seriously tempted to give up.
The most successful 30 day goal I can think of is my August, 1996 proclamation to try eating vegetarian for a month. It took. I haven’t (knowingly) eaten anything with a face since.
Most people would say that decision to “go vegetarian” would make it pretty tough to “go bodybuilder”. I wonder, though. How hard could it be? I eat healthy foods. I get plenty of protein (I think). I work out and run and sweat. Besides, it will only be 30 days. I can try anything for 30 days.
If I want to be successful, though, I’m going to need some help and advice. What to eat? What kind of workouts and for how long? Does running work for me or against me?
I think it will be a fun experiment to see what kind of advice I can drum up online.
